We believe in showing, not just telling, what responsible AI use looks like."

Math for America Master Teacher Fellow Asmaou Diallo currently teaches high school chemistry in New York City. As a former Penn State RET computational chemistry researcher and current Cary Institute BIORET environmental research teacher, she brings a unique perspective bridging cutting-edge research and technology with ethical educational practice.

Her philosophy challenges typical 'AI enthusiasm' in education: "We must center our students and their human intelligence in learning. Our students must see themselves as powerful agents who can transform their communities, with AI as a tool for them—not an entity that changes who they are fundamentally."

Asmaou advocates for radical transparency about AI's environmental, human, and ethical costs. "We have to share with our children the unethical ways this technology has been developed and prepare them to make decisions about technology in situations we cannot yet imagine."

"It is up to us—as parents, teachers, and administrators—to model responsible AI use while acknowledging that this technology has caused real damage to our environment and to other people."

AIEdUSA exists to ensure ethical AI education "cannot be left to the machines to figure out." Through critical analysis, transparency, and student empowerment, we prepare the next generation to shape technology rather than be shaped by it.
